Lost Dogs Reunited With Owner

The owner said she dropped the small dogs' leashes after being scared by a large dog, allowing her dogs to run away.

The first dog was found at about 8:45 a.m. after a citizen witnessed the dog fall or jump from a blue pick-up truck in the area of Fremont Boulevard and Gibraltar Drive. The citizen helped retrieve the dog, who was eventually taken to the Tri-City Animal Shelter by animal services.

The second dog was brought to the shelter two hours later. He was found running on Alder Avenue, not far from where the first dog was found.

Both dogs were believed to be from the same household because they were very similar in appearance and both were wearing harnesses without tags.

Neither dog was injured but authorities were concerned they may have been abandoned.

That wasn’t the case, the Argus reports.

A woman called the shelter Wednesday believing the dogs to be hers but couldn’t make it in until Thursday. She described the dogs’ collars correctly and both responded when she called their names, according to the Argus

The woman told workers that she was walking the dogs when she was started by a large dog. She dropped the leashes and the dogs ran away.

According to the Argus, the media buzz around the story compelled several community members to call and inquire about adopting the dogs. It also gave some much-needed exposure to the Tri-City Animal Shelter, which has plenty of dogs and cats available for adoption.
