Community Invited to 'Run 4 Education' This Weekend

Proceeds go toward Fremont Education Foundation's Guy Emanuele Sports Fund.

The Fremont Education Foundation presents their 8th annual Run 4 Education, on Sunday, October 14, at Lake Elizabeth (inside Central Park), in Fremont.  This is a fundraiser for the Fremont Education Foundation’s Guy Emanuele Sports Fund.

The Run for Education offers a 5K Run/Walk and a 10K Run, features courses that are flat and fast, and they both follow around the beautiful Lake Elizabeth, which is located in inside Central Park in Fremont.  

The children’s Tiny Trot 1/2 Mile and 1/4 Mile events will also take place near the lake.  5K and 10K courses are flat and fast, and go around Lake Elizabeth.  The Tiny Trot 1/2 Mile and 1/4 runs are within the park. 

Entry fees are the following:

  • Adult 5K/10K Runs $35
  • Children runs $25.  

All registrants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, refreshments, goody bag, and entry into a huge raffle. Participants can also take in the event’s Family Fitness Expo before and after the races, featuring local vendors with an assortment of free food. 

Something New

The Technology Grant Challenge: For every five students/family members participating in the Run 4 Education (Registrants must clearly specify school name, grade level and teacher’s name on registration form), a raffle ticket will be issued to the specified Fremont Unified School District K-12 teacher. On event day, two grand prizes ($500 Technology Grant) will be rewarded to two individual teachers from raffle drawing.

Schedule of Events

  • 7:30 am - Check-in/race day registration
  • 8:30 am - Family Fitness Expo & Kids Corral
  • 9:00 am - 5K/10K Run begins
  • Kids Corral - Supervised enclosed area for children to play while Mom & Dad do the 5K or 10K run.
  • 10:30 am – 1/4-Mile Tiny Trot (4-6 years)
  • 10:45 am – 1/2 -Mile Tiny Trot (7-10 years) and
  • Awards following right after the events.

Awards

Medals will be given three-deep to the finishers in each male and female age category in 10-year increments.  Special awards will go to overall male and female finishers.

Lake Elizabeth is inside Fremont’s Central Park, located at 4000 Paseo Padre Parkway, at Grimmer Road, Fremont.

The Fremont Education Foundation (FEF) is a non-profit, tax-exempt, public charity, established in 1991, to encourage increased community involvement and investment in local schools.  FEF's Guy Emanuele Sports Fund, named after the fund's founder, provides individual students with scholarships to help offset costs of equipment, sportswear, transportation costs, fees, shoes, sports bags, tournament fees, and other related items required for participation.

What if I went to my boss and told him he would now pay me 100% more? He would laugh and probablyRead More fire me. The truth is we have no choice but to pay this 100% increase. We are taxed to death in this country partially to pay for crap like this and now this?????? Your organization already receives 60 million$ a year of our money however we are still at your mercy when you decide to raise our rates by 100% furthermore yours is the only service that has no option to pay online without a outrageous service fee???? And you say we should be "glad" FUCK YOU!

Everybody is serviced with the water through these old pipes. No matter how much you use, if yourRead More water is interupted for weeks or months after a major earthquake, you home is rendered "UNLIVABLE". They could have raised your "TAX ASSESSMENT" each year just like Garbage and Yard Disposal but that would be unfair to the homes that are unoccupied or are rentals. The rental owner would just raise the rents to cover it but they ususally take a 200% bonus on the rent so the landloard can take a "piece of the Action". Once a Tax Assessment goes on your property tax, it never comes off. Remember, the Water is FREE...it is the service that gets it from the source to your kitchen sink or bath that costs money. Be Glad the Oil and Gas companies have not made your water unfit to drink in Amameda County....YET.
