Police Log: 3 Teens Busted for Burglarizing Neighbor, Taking Gun; Plus, Who Rolled New Camaro?

Catalytic-converter boost and more from March 14 to 20.

The following is a summary of significant crime and incidents reported in Fremont between March 14 and 20 as released by the Fremont Police Department.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20

  • Teens nabbed for breaking into neighbor's, taking gun. Three  boys were arrested for suspected burglary after a resident on Isle Royal Street called police to report a break-in, a missing firearm and that some of his swiped possessions were in his neighbor's yard. Officers arrested the victim’s juvenile neighbor, who admitted to being involved in the burglary. A second teen was rounded up, with the missing gun in his possession, near Tamayo Street and Fremont Boulevard. A third suspect was also arrested. The majority of stolen goods, including the firearm, were recovered.
  • Relative booked in assault of eldery woman. A female found bleeding Tuesday at a home on Junipero Common told police she was struck by an iron, after first insisting her injuries were sustained in a fall. Details here.

TUESDAY, MARCH 19

  • Fifteen names later. A 1 a.m. screaming match at Motel 6
    North led to the arrest of an "uncooperative" man, 34, on $45,000 of warrants, and a Fremont woman, 49, who gave cops 15 different names before 'fessing up to her true identity -- listed on numerous warrants. She was also booked on suspected controlled-substance charges.   
  • Home break-ins. Residential burglaries logged: 11 a.m. on the 40100 block of Canyon Heights Drive, with rear slider pried open and suspect described as a 5'10" black male wearing a red hoodie; online report of break-in that occurred Monday between 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. along 43000 Paseo Padre Parkway, with jewelry and cash taken and entry likely through unlocked window; and jewelry stolen in burglary at Waterstone Apartments.

MONDAY, MARCH 18

  • Catalytic converters swiped at BART. A man reported at 5:44 p.m. that two catalytic converters, valued at $2,000, were stolen from his 2004 Toyota Sequoia, parked from 6 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. at Fremont BART lot F-1. A grinder was likely used. Anyone who possibly witnessed or with information should contact BART police and reference case 1303-2878.
  • Burglary tools? Two men cited near South Grimmer Boulevard and Enterprise Street  -- one for driving on a suspended license, and the other for paraphernalia/meth pipe possession -- may now face suspected possession of burglary tools. In the vehicle, which was towed from the scene, were a large pry bar, sledgehammer and decorative river rock.
  • Knife stick-up. A late-night, strong-arm robbery was reported at the Northgate Apartments by a 15-year-old who said he was robbed of cash and a cell phone near the vending machines by a suspect wearing a mask and carrying a knife.
  • Resident home for lunch, walks in on burglar. A man found his front door blocked from the inside by a chair when he came home for lunch on St. Nicholas Court. The resident kicked in his door and the burglar inside took off, jumping a fence in the backyard. The suspect is described as an Asian male, approximately 18 years old, wearing a white T-shirt and black gloves.
  • Another burgle-interruptus. A man on View Point Circle called police after three males attempted to open his home's rear sliding door. After spotting the resident, the suspects fled in a getaway car described as a red, newer Cadillac Escalade.

SUNDAY, MARCH 17

  • Prowlers confess. Police apprehended two suspects who witnesses said were near Sundale South Apartments jumping a wall into a yard of a Porter Street home. The males, 19 and 17, who were walking on Sundale Drive and Stevenson Boulevard when stopped by officers, admitted involvement in area car break-ins. No nearby residential burglaries were logged.
  • He blends with hoodie, but car stands out. A hoodie-wearing, white adult man in his late 20s, with a shaved head, and driving a teal, early- to mid-2000s model Honda, is being sought by police as a suspect in a commercial burglary on the 42800 block of Albrae Street. The Honda's right front tire is a spare, and there is a bike rack on the vehicle's roof.

SATURDAY, MARCH 16

  • Mojo working? Police suspect a patron hid at The Mojo Lounge during closing, then broke into the cash register and fled out the east door, activating the alarm. The commercial burglary is under investigation.

FRIDAY, MARCH 15

  • Three no-nos. A 27-year-old man was arrested for drunk-and-disorderly conduct after reportedly approaching women at the Alta Mir Villa Apartments pool and expressing "his infatuation" as he removed his clothes. 
  • Driver disappears after flipping sports car. A 2013 Camaro was left upside-down and wrapped around a tree after a rollover crash on the bend of Grimmer Boulevard near Irvington Way. The car was destroyed, as was a stretch of fencing. No word on the three-foot-diameter tree. The case is under investigation.
  • Three home break-ins. Residential burglaries logged: on the 5200 block of Omar Street; on the 42600 block of Scofield Drive; along 100 Kootenai Drive -- with a suspect vehicle described as green or teal late-'80s to early-'90s, four-door Honda Civic.
  • Five businesses hit. Five daytime, commercial burglaries reported: on the 5200 block of Mowry Avenue; on the 45300 block of Industrial Place; two along 3900 Washington Boulevard; and on 36400 Fremont Boulevard.

THURSDAY, MARCH 14

  • Vandal under the influence. A 36-year-old man was arrested at his Main Street apartment for allegedly kicking in a neighboring resident's front door. He was booked on charges of vandalism and being under the influence.
  • Arrests after Starbucks fight. A female, 34, and her boyfriend, 36, both on probation, were arrested on warrant charges near Starbucks on Farwell Drive and Mowry Avenue following a verbal argument between the two.
