Former Kennedy High School Athletic Director Killed in Crash

John Webb had been a fixture at Kennedy High School for more than 25 years. He was killed while helping at the scene of an accident.

A man killed in a crash in unincorporated Alameda County near Fremont Saturday morning has been identified by the coroner's bureau as 76-year-old John Webb, the former athletic director at John F. Kennedy High School

Webb, a Brentwood resident, was driving on northbound Interstate Highway 680 between Vargas and Sheridan roads around 1 a.m. when he got in a collision with two other cars, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Webb was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said. The roadway was closed for roughly two hours as the CHP investigated the crash. Further details about the incident was not immediately available. 

A candlelight vigil is planned for Tuesday at 6 p.m. in front of Kennedy High School, according to the San Jose Mercury News
