Five Officers Subdue Alleged LSD-Fueled Robber

The suspect attempted to steal a cell phone from a victim before fighting a police officer near Paseo Padre Parkway and Isherwood Way.

A San Jose man was arrested Saturday night after trying to steal a cell phone from a woman and then fighting with officers while under the influence of LSD, police said.

According to the Fremont Police Department, officers responded to the Quarry Lakes staging area near the intersection of Paseo Padre Parkway and Ishwerwood Way at about 8:50 on a report of an attempted robbery.

A male suspect approached a woman who was sitting in the passenger seat of a parked car and claimed to be lost. In an attempt to help the man, the woman took out her phone and tried to make a call for him. That’s when the suspect began to yell, opened the car door and tried to rip the phone out of her hand, according to police.
