A teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after a Saturday morning car crash that injured a total of five people, police said.
The 17-year-old driver was traveling northbound on Paseo Padre when he lost control of the vehicle, which then struck a center divider, crashed into a sign and “continued to spin out of control” before hitting another sign and a tree, according to a report from the Fremont Police Department.
The accident occurred just before 2:45 a.m. Saturday on Paseo Padre Parkway near Covington Drive.
All of the occupants of the vehicle were injured and were only described as minors, said Police Spokeswoman Geneva Bosques.
One passenger was transported to a local trauma center for major injuries, but police said that person’s injuries were described as non-life threatening.
The other four occupants of the car, including the driver, were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital, and the driver was arrested on suspicion a felony DUI.
