ACWD's Water Rate Increase

The Alameda County Water District has proposed to increase our water rates again.  This is their proposal:

Single-Family Residences: surcharge on water use over 16 units (23 units will increase your bill by 9%, 30 units will increase your bill by 16%, etc.)

Everyone Else (apartments, businesses, etc.): 13.6% rate increase, regardless of water use

Remember, our water rates AND service charge increased 7% just three months ago in February.

There are two ways to defeat the proposal:

1.  If a majority of property owners protest the rate increase, they legally cannot impose the rate increase.  To protest, simply email rateprotest at acwd dot com, indicate the email is to protest the rate increase and include your name, address and phone number.

2.  Attend the July 17 Board Meeting and convince the Board to vote down the proposal.
