Fremont Death Notices

Some of the people with ties to Fremont who passed away recently

Ben Betancourt, a resident of Fremont, was born in Alameda and attended school in San Leandro. He owned and operated Star Audio Rehearsal Studio and a DJ service in San Lorenzo. He also worked a Smith Barney Brokerage in San Francisco. Betancourt passed away on July 30 at the age of 49.

Annie Pearl Franklin, a resident of Fremont, was a licenses missionary and evangelist. She was well-known in the region and even had her birthday, March 12, declared Mother Pearl Franklin Day by Oakland's mayor. Franklin passed away on July 24 at the age of 101.

Lillian V. Manning, a resident of Fremont, was a native of Jamestown, New York, who moved to Fremont in 1985. She passed away on July 2 at the age of 95.

Wilma Billie Calcagno, 
a resident of Newark, was born in Sacramento. At age 70, she graduated with honors with a degree in English from Cal State Hayward. She was a photographer, poet and artist. She was a "pink lady" volunteer at Washington Hospital and the original owner of Spin-A-Yarn in Fremont. Calcagno passed away on July 25 at the age of 95.
