  • Assault with car jack. A man at 11:30 p.m. on Bryant Street told police he was sitting in his vehicle when he was approached by a male acquaintance, with whom he has a long-standing feud and a restraining order, who was carrying an automotive jack which he used to smash the victim’s car window and hit him in the face six to eight times. The victim was treated by paramedics for severe facial lacerations. The suspect, a 52-year-old Fremont man, was arrested at a home on Gibraltar Drive.
Saturday, May 11
  • Slow-dance sucker-punch at Saddle Rack.  A patron at The Saddle Rack was slow dancing with his partner when he was reportedly sucker-punched by an unknown male. The victim suffered broken teeth.
Friday, May 10
  • Chevy Envoy ditched after hitting pole. A Chevy Envoy reportedly struck a light pole at Niles Boulevard and El Portal Avenue.  The motorist fled the scene. The wrecked vehicle was abandoned when officers arrived at the scene. The driver is sought by police.
  • Shots heard; no gun found. At approximately 2:45 a.m.,  several citizens called to report shots fired in the area of Bullard and Blanchard streets. While officers set out to locate a possible gunshot victim, a homeowner on Blanchard came forward and told police he was hosting a party when two attendees began arguing. One left, later returning with friends and more fighting ensued, when suddenly gunshots were heard. No one reported seeing a suspect with a gun, and no casings were found. One party guest, however, a 29-year-old man, was arrested for two outstanding warrants.
Thursday, May 9
  • Caught red-handed. In-A suspected burglar was arrested on the 2400 block of Harrisburg after police saw him leaving a home with suitcases and safes, even using the victimized homeowners' hand truck to haul the loot to his vehicle, and carefully placing the stolen goods in the bed of his pickup truck. Police were alerted to the suspect after a nearby neighbor called to say a suspicious man knocked at the door asking if they had seen his lost dog.
