Motorcyclist Expected to Survive After Suffering Major Injuries in Accident with Police Car

A female motorcyclist was seriously injured when she collided with a police patrol car this afternoon in Fremont, a police sergeant said.

Officers responded to Fremont Boulevard, just north of Thornton Avenue, at about 3:45 p.m., Sgt. Dan O'Connell said.

The motorcyclist, a female, was transported to a hospital with serious injuries but she is expected to survive, O'Connell said.

O'Connell said the officer in the patrol car was uninjured in the crash.

Northbound Fremont Boulevard at Thornton Avenue is closed and O'Connell said he expects it to remain closed until around 9 p.m.
