JOIN US FOR LWVFNUC's OCTOBER HOT TOPIC MEETING

TOPIC – Sustainable Agriculture in Fremont – a local perspective

SPEAKER – Justine Burt, LEAF board member

CO-SPONSOR – Tri City Ecology

October 21st - 7 p.m. , 3375 Country Drive, Fremont

Local Ecology and Agriculture Fremont (LEAF) board member Justine Burt will share the implementation of LEAF’s vision and goals. As a prelude to the LWVUS study we will learn what local sustainable agriculture is and how we can support it. Many of the topics included in the LWVUS study align with Ms Burt’s knowledge of sustainable agriculture. These include 1) genetically modified organisms (GMOs), herbicides, pesticides, agriculture water pollution, aquifer depletion, antibiotics in livestock, and accurate food labeling; and 2) current agriculture finance issues including consolidation in agriculture industries, crop subsidies and the federal agricultural regulatory process.
