Krispy Kreme, Habit Burger and More Coming to Pacific Commons

T.J. Maxx and Home Goods will also celebrate their grand opening Oct. 24. They are among the eight new businesses scheduled to open by the end of the year.

Already home to dozens of restaurants and retailers, Pacific Commons will welcome eight new establishments by the end of 2013, according to developers.

Pacific Commons will celebrate the grand opening of clothing store T.J. Maxx and home furnishings store HomeGoods — together in one 45,000-square-foot space — on Oct. 24, according to Sean Whiskeman of real estate firm Catellus, which manages the 80-acre shopping center.

The arrival of T.J. Maxx at Pacific Commons, however, means the closure of the NewPark Mall location in Newark. According to employees, the Newark store will close Oct. 20.

Dress clothes retailer Men’s Warehouse, which is slated to open in mid-November at Pacific Commons, will also relocate from NewPark once the new store is ready.

Though the opening dates have not yet been solidified, popular donut chain Krispy Kreme, sandwich shop Which Which, burger joint Habit Burger, beauty superstore Ulta, and mattress store Sleep Number are also scheduled to open by early December, Whiskeman said.

The Ulta at the Fremont Hub and Union City Krispy Kreme will remain open.

“The stores will kick-off the first phase of smaller retail and restaurant shops at The Block within Pacific Commons,” Whiskeman told Patch. “We are working some additional restaurants and retailers, so we hope to have some new names to announce soon.”

Here’s what you can expect:

T.J. Maxx/Home Goods

  • Opening Oct. 24
  • Sister companies TJ Maxx and HomeGoods will join together at this 45,000-square-foot store at 43519 Boscell Rd. in the former Ashley Furniture. TJ Maxx specializes in men’s and women’s fashion, offering designer brands at discount prices. Similarly, HomeGoods offers low prices on and high-end items such as furniture, beddings, home accents, kitchen essentials and more. The store will be the only T.J. Maxx in the Tri-Cities, following the closure of the NewPark Mall location on Oct. 20.

Ulta

  • Opening mid-November
  • The Pacific Commons store will be the second in Fremont for the beauty superstore, which also has a location at the Fremont Hub. The store features cosmetics, fragrances, beauty supplies and a salon.

Men’s Wearhouse

  • Opening mid-November
  • The international suit and apparel retailer will move from NewPark Mall to Pacific Commons in mid-November, putting it in the same city as its corporate headquarters.

Sleep Number

  • Opening November
  • The store will be dedicated to manufacturer Select Comfort’s mattresses and beddings, including the popular Sleep Number adjustable air mattress. The “sleep number” refers to the firmness of the bed, which users can adjust to their liking.
Firehouse Subs
  • Opening November/December
  • Founded by two firemen, Firehouse Subs serves up hot and smoky sandwiches such as the Hook & Ladder (smokey turkey breast, honey ham monterrey jack chees) and the New York Steamer (corned beef brisket, pastrami and provolone cheese). The shop will be located in the former Radio Shack near the In-N-Out.

Habit Burger

  • Opening late November/early December
  • This So Cal-based burger joint prides itself on its “Char Burger” — a mouthwatering, fresh ground charbroiled beef burger offered in original, mushroom swiss and teriyaki varieties. They also serve up grilled chicken, veggie, tri-tip and albacore tuna sandwiches, along with salads, shakes and fries on the side.

Krispy Kreme

  • Opening late November/early December
  • Homer Simpson would have a real dilemma if he lived in the Tri-Cities. Come mid-November, residents can pick from two locations — the Union Landing store in Union City (the first in the Bay Area) and a new store at Pacific Commons. We’re not complaining, of course. Who could be mad at more doughnuts?

Which Which

  • Opening late November/early December
  • Boasting “superior sandwiches,” Which Which might make you forget about Subway. Their menu includes 50 sandwiches, which you can get in 7-inch, 10-inch or 14-inch sizes. You can also get your sandwiches as a “bowlwich” or “lettucewhich.”
