I know all this, Sam--I'm being facetious. I wish we could have made a more earnest, seriously…Read More convincing fight to get it. It would have brought so many jobs, so much fan money, and increased tax income to our city. It's probably this same peanut gallery that complains about lack of public funds for education, street repair, crime prevention, civic development, and jobs, jobs, jobs, in connection with all of these community improvements that would be possible and paid for. Congratulations to Santa Clara and San Jose for moving forward to a brighter future.

Sorry to disappoint you, Jeannie. It’s been talked, not going to happen. The city has in the…Read More past tried to entice the A’s twice, but it has been rejected. Nearby residents have complained about traffic. Besides Lew Wolff has said that he much prefers the A’s playing in San Jose. And the 49ERS new home will be down in the fall of next year.

Tear that old eyesore of a mall down! It's heyday is long gone and never coming back. Newark does…Read More have the potential to develop their downtown. That's where the city should focus on.

I agree! Grindall needs to be fired! Stores are closing faster than ever before in Newark. Gap…Read More recently left the Newpark Mall and the closed Mervyn's store is an eye-sore. Grindall is incompetent. While we are at it, Newark Mayor Nagy should be fired as well. Incompetency trickles from the top. We need fresh ideas & motivated city workers to make Newark a better city instead of hindering its' obvious potentials.

Neltles? Pioson in Baby food, drinks and foods in the past, Buying out companies and closing plants…Read More in California. MJB Coffee, Hills Brothers Coffee, Dryers Ice Cream, Beach Nut Baby Food, Libby and Carnation to name a few. After buying them out, draining the assets and quality, they resold the brands to others after the names were tainted by poisons or polution. Watch as they now sell off "DiGiorno" now that it's name has been tainted. Nestles is also very Anti-Union and sells off properties that have Union Contracts and moves to "Right to Work States" whenever possible. When Nestle or Nestle Beverage buys out a share of your company, your days are numbered. Ask a Hills Brothers Coffee or Dryers Ice Cream ex- employee.

is this called terrorism or just vandalizing of public property by idiots?
seems like domestic…Read More ignorance is growing, while the hate and drama connected to it gets blamed on everyone else but our own douche-bags here.
MAYBE EXTREMISM is the problem, not the brand or label they extremists hide behind. These guys wereTRAINED HERE and yet they still turn on their own cities & innocent public? be it with pellets or not... its still domestic assault by OUR TRAINED militia...... sad just because it was minimal and only pellets does that excuse it really?

Matt I completely agree with you this Lestor guy has to be totally an idiot. Stop all of this junk…Read More coming into the country and then there will be plenty of jobs. Try taking a bunch of stuff to Japan and see what happens to you. JAIL TIME. These big corporations are only looking for cheap labor and the United States be damned. Start slapping high tax on their stuff they ship here and see how fast things change. That will also take care of our National Debt.

Phaneesh Murthy should be convicted for treason. Outsourcing is destroying the American middle…Read More class. iGate is nothing less than a criminal organization akin to the Mafia. RBC and iGate,,a pox on both their houses.

Scumbag you are crook as your name suggests, ask your govt and yourself about outsourcing.…Read More Outsourcing is all about doing work better at low cost. You are eating everyone's share so getting rid of dead wood like you and other 55+ years, is no crime.
You don't even know the economics how it has imroved your life. else you would be paying 100$ for a gallon of gas.
Union City Resident April 9, 2013 at 03:58 am
Union City charges for garbage service on the property tax because it was the only way to be sure…Read More people payed. So many didn't, that they put the extra costs on everyone, just spread it out for us to pay. This way I don't pay for someone down the street, etc. so in that manner, it did keep costs down. I know, I passed the ordinance. If there is a labor issue spreading all across the country, what is the issue that would make so many become supportive? It's not always about a raise, it could be they are fighting take-aways from their benefits or something. The article did not articulate any details about it so it's hard to judge the action. I'm a union supporter though. After my great grandfather lost an eye in a mining accident, he began the first miners union, my grandfather was a boiler maker, my dad a sheet metal worker, I've been in a few unions, etc, etc. But I'm a realist about money too. Live within your budget. However, these garbage contracts are like 30 million dollars. There is a pretty good profit I would think. That's only one city. Hope to learn more

To my fellow Union City residents. This is what I'm doing. I took a 42 gallon contractor trashbag…Read More and put it in the Tri-Ced recycling bin. It won't fit as a liner, but I am hanging part of it over the front edge of the bin. Throw the trash in the bag and close the lid which will hold the bag in place. Repeat until this Thursday. For Fremont residents, you could probably do the same thing with your green bin if it's not already full of yard waste.

You got it right. So sad the Union has desided to disrupt service in a lot of other areas of the…Read More country. It has nothing to do with the local people. So sad these drivers get NO PAY for two days. Who in with the economy can afford to have two days no pay? No strike no strike pay, figure it out. Pay those union dues so you can lose income and maybe your home?
