Mission San Jose and Museum offers a place of education and resource for visitors. The site was founded on June 11, 1797 by Father Fermin Francisco de Lasuen. Its original intent was to serve as a place to disseminate Christianity and Spanish culture in the area. The museum now functions to preserve and study the historical facets of the mission's founding and its times. It also features a genealogy service, gift shop and facilities for rental for weddings, parties, events and concerts.
