Inauguration presents Members of Congress with an incredible opportunity to engage our constituents and facilitate interaction with them. In 2009, when I first launched this program, the response was overwhelmingly positive and led to constituent-inspired legislation for me in the 112th Congress.
Based on the success of that inaugural ticket giveaway, I’m going back to my constituents for more creative ideas that can again inspire legislation. Like other Members, I’m offering tickets through a general application, a random lottery, and my Facebook application in order to be as fair and creative as possible and give everyone an equal shot at receiving tickets. Facebook engages a different contingent of constituents that might not otherwise be engaged. I believe constituents should have multiple avenues for sharing their ideas with their Congressperson, and look forward to this innovative exchange.
On January 21, 2013, Americans from across the country will come together in Washington, DC, to celebrate the second Inauguration of President Barack Obama. I have a limited number of tickets available, and you can apply here. In order to keep America competitive in the global economy, share your suggestions on how to get people back to work in quality jobs, or to make sure each and every child has access to a high quality, equitable education.
Please write a paragraph of at least 5 sentences, submit a video, or draw a picture suggesting an innovative idea either to put Americans back to work, or ensure that each and every child has access to a quality education.
