Should Barry Bonds Have Been Elected Into the Hall of Fame?

Barry Bonds did not come close to being first-ballot Hall of Famer on Wednesday. Should he be in the Hall of Fame? Tell us in the comments section.

Barry Bonds will have to wait at least another year to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

And he might never stop waiting.

Bonds needed 75 percent of the vote from the Baseball Writers' Association of America to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He got only 36.2 percent of the vote, finishing ninth on the ballot.

If you ignore the performance enhancement drug controversy surrounding Bonds, few players have ever had a better resume for Hall of Fame induction.

The former San Francisco Giants left fielder in the all-time leader in home runs (762), the all-time leader in home runs in a single-season (73), a seven-time Most Valuable Player winner (more than anybody else, ever) and a 14-time all star.

But, of course, it's impossible to ignore the PED controversy. In 2011, Bonds was convicted of obsturction of justice in connection to his testimony related to steroid use.

One thing Bonds didn't do in his career, that the Giants have done twice since his retirement, is win the World Series.

Do you think Bonds should be in the Hall of Fame? Do you think the writers will eventually vote him in? Tell us in the comments section.
