On Friday, Mark Robson of Robson Homes — the property owner of the parcel — announced that the future plaza will be dedicated to former Mayor Bob Wasserman, who passed away in December 2011.

Robson along with Whole Foods Market Regional President Rob Twyman and Fremont Mayor Bill Harrison expressed excitement about the upcoming opening of the grocery store.

"We're very excited to get this store open and be able to partner with the community," said Twyman, who added that the company plans to add about 200 jobs for local residents with the market's opening.
