Special Event Fees to Increase in Fremont

The fees will now be based on the size of the event, according to media reports.

Event organizers will have to shell out more money to hold their gatherings in Fremont, according to media reports.

Last Tuesday, the City of Fremont voted unanimously to amend the city’s master fee schedule in regards to special event application fees, MercuryNews.com reports.

Currently, the city charges $100 for larger “high impact” events that attract more than 500 attendees and do not last longer than two consecutive days, such as the Festival of Arts and Fourth of July Parade. The city charges $20 for small events and block parties, the news website reports.

After researching other Bay Area cities, the City of Fremont found that the city imposed some of the lowest fees in the region.

Fees will now be based on the size of events and broken into five permit classes, according to MercuryNews.com:

  • Block parties: $20
  • Class 1 events (small events that don’t require city services): $50
  • Class II events (those that require road closures or additional security): $75
  • Class III events (high-impact events that don’t require city services): $150
  • Class IV events (high-impact events that require city services): $200
  • Class V events (high-impact events that last more than two days or multiple times a year): $200.

Late fees for permit applications will also be imposed, according to the website.
