Register for Alameda County's Leadership Academy

Organizers say it is a way to learn more about the community in which you live.

Alameda County officials announced Friday that they are now accepting applications for the 13th annual Adult Leadership Academy.

The academy consists of presentations from county leaders, public policy exercises, and interactive forums. Organizers say it is a way for county residents to learn about ways to increase civic involvement and the services the county provides.

The academy was founded in 2001 by County Administrator Susan S. Muranish and the Board of Supervisors at the time. People selected for the academy will meet on the first Wednesday of the month for six months between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m. starting in October 2013.
