UPDATE: Driver Seriously Injured After Crashing into Tree

Paseo Padre Parkway was closed for most of this morning.

A driver was seriously injured when he crashed his pickup truck into a tree in Fremont early this morning, according to police.
 
The crash happened on Paseo Padre Parkway just north of Peralta Boulevard at 12:37 a.m., police said. The driver was headed south in a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck and hit a tree in the center median, police said.
 
He was the vehicle's only occupant and was taken to Regional Medical Center of San Jose with life-threatening injuries.
 
Paseo Padre Parkway was closed for most of this morning. Police announced shortly after 11 a.m. that the road had reopened.

Fremont Police says a collision investigation has forced the temporary closure of two roads in Fremont this morning.

Fremont Police Department advises you to avoid the area of Paseo Padre Pkwy./ Peralta Blvd due to a traffic collision investigation. Paseo Padre Pkwy. will be closed (Sequoia Rd. to Peralta Blvd.) and will require a detour for approximately 3-4 hours.  Suggested alternate routes include Fremont Blvd for northbound and southbound traffic.  Use Thornton Ave. or Peralta Blvd to link up to Fremont Blvd and detour around the impacted area.
