Update: Two Bank Robbery Suspects Arrested After EZ 8 Motel Standoff
Two men who police say robbed a bank in Fremont this afternoon fled to the Newark hotel. Newark and Fremont police have the place surrounded.

Two men suspected of robbing a Fremont bank Monday afternoon have been arrested after an hours-long standoff at Newark's EZ 8 Motel on Cedar Boulevard near Interstate 880.
Newark police issued a press release shortly before 9:30 p.m. stating that the two suspects have been arrested.

Tuesday they named the suspects and the charges the face:
- Jeremiah Martin, a 37-year-old San Francisco resident was arrested for robbery, receiving known stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.
- Michael Luckert, a 43-year-old San Francisco resident was arrested for robbery, receiving known stolen property and violation of probation.
Fremont Police Spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said that at 1:40 p.m., two men robbed the Bank of the West on the 39500 block of Paseo Padre Parkway in Fremont. They escaped with an unknown amount of cash.

No gun was visible, but at least one of the men held something under a cloth that looked like a gun.
The men wore printed bandannas, like old-fashioned bad guys, that obscured their faces.
But a surveillance camera caught an image of them getting into a maroon Chevy pickup. Bosques said the camera got a partial license plate number.
At 2:05 p.m. Newark police phoned their Fremont counterparts to say that a vehicle matching the description of the Chevy had been spotted at the Motel 6 near the Mowry Avenue exit on I-880.
Witnesses told Newark police that they saw two men run from the Motel 6 to the nearby EZ 8, resulting in a lengthy standoff with local authorities, according to Newark police.
Newark Police Cmdr. Michael Carroll said that one suspect surrendered to police once he was contacted by officers, while the other refused to surrender.
Motel guests were then evacuated for safety precautions as the Newark-Union City police SWAT teams and Fremont and Newark police hostage negotiators responded to the motel.
The second suspect peacefully surrendered five hours later, Newark police said.
Police have not yet identified the suspects and said the investigation is ongoing.
