Update: Suspect Escapes Police Behind Orchard Supply

Police said the man is wanted on an outstanding warrant

A suspect escaped police despite a two-hour long manhunt in the area behind the Orchard Supply on Mowry Avenue, officials said.

According to Fremont Police Spokeswoman Geneva Bosques, the suspect has an outstanding warrant.

Investigators tried to make contact with the suspect somewhere along Blue Fin Way, but the man fled toward the drainage ditch that runs along the Mowry East Shopping Center and more police responded shortly after 2:30 p.m., Bosques said.

Several police units from the Fremont and Newark police departments  and California Highway Patrol responded to the scene, but the man was not located.Police began clearing the area around 4 p.m.

The suspect was only described as a 6-foot-tall man who was last seen wearing a hoodie.
