Police Log: Bank Stick-Up; Probation Collars; Planned Pot Mailing Fails
Someone never received their marijuana, 10 businesses burglarized at one complex, music volume problems, and more from July 25 to 31.
The following is a summary of significant crime and incidents reported in Fremont between July 25 and 31 as released by the Fremont Police Department.
Wednesday, July 31
- Ten commercial burglaries. Ten businesses reported break-ins at the Fremont Business Park.
- Possible knock-knock burglary foiled. A resident called police after two juveniles knocked on his door, then after he did not answer, hopped the fence and entered his yard. The resident scared them off, but responding officers located two males walking nearby who matched descriptions and were identified as the suspects. Both were transported to Juvenile Hall.
- Police seeking witness in 2011 homicide. Oakland police are still searching for one more possible witness in the shooting death of a Fremont man at a Halloween party two years ago. Story here.

Searchable probations yield offenders. Several individuals with searchable-probation clauses were stopped for varying reasons and subsequently arrested. Among those: a bicyclist, 54, from Fremont, stopped for a vehicle-code violation and carrying prescription pills he could not prove were his; a Union City male, 22, on a traffic stop, in possession of suspected methamphetamine; and a Fremont woman, 34, with a dirk/dagger found in her car after a suspicious-vehicle stop.
Adult-and-kids team of shoplifters. Target security snagged a Milpitas woman, 43, for suspected shoplifting, along with her alleged accomplices -- four teens, three 13-year-olds and one, 14. The female was arrested and booked, and three of the juveniles were cited and released.

Self-diagnosed mental. A man who reportedly punctured tires at a Thornton Avenue coffee shop told police he had “mental issues.” Officers agreed, and the suspect was taken for medical attention and a mental evaluation.
Missing, no. Meth, yes. An adult reported missing from San Francisco was found at Motel 6 with another man. Both admitted to police that they were under the influence of methamphetamine and were arrested.

One pipe; one wanted. A car stopped for a vehicle-code violation contained a driver on searchable probation. The search turned up a methamphetamine pipe. The male passenger had an outstanding warrant. Both were arrested.
- Gold target. A woman was almost robbed of her gold necklace while walking in an Ardenwood neighborhood. Story here.
- Package of pot. A Boscell Road mailing business called police after employees determined a package a customer attempted to ship contained marijuana. The sender is being sought.
Play that funky music softer. Police answered a noise complaint at Rancho Luna Apartments where the inebriated adult disputed that his music was too loud. He was advised he would be issued a citation, however, opted not to wait for officers to write it up and tried to walk away despite several commands to stop. He then fought with officers before being taken into custody. Officers sustained minor injuries during the altercation.
- Two arrested in Mission Valley neighborhood home burglaries. The suspects, 18- and 19-year-old males, are Fremont residents from the Mission San Jose area, according to police. Story here.
- Home invasion suspect evades police, assault rifle found. Story here.
- Green Honda gone; green Honda found. A man reported his green 1994 Honda Accord stolen from Best Western on Mowry Avenue and Farwell Drive. At the motel parking lot, police spotted another green Accord, a 1997 model, reported stolen from Oakland. That vehicle had ignition damage and a stripped stereo, but no major damage. Officers suspect the car thief dumped the ’97 Accord and stole the ’94 between 9 p.m. July 24 and 8 a.m. July 25.
