  • Suspicious man. At 4:50 a.m. a citizen heard an alarm and saw a male jump from a window at a Driscoll Road business. The citizen called 911 as the suspect fled in a brown Toyota sedan. Video surveillance captured the incident. Two businesses were broken into and ransacked; loss is unknown. The suspect was a white male, about 40 years old, wearing white T-shirt and dark jeans.

  • Pot crowd behind junior high? Officers were called to Walters Junior High School at 10:40 p.m. after a witness reported approximately 20 males at the back of the school smoking marijuana. The arriving officers locate three adult men loitering in the back lot.  A 19-year-old male was ultimately arrested for possession of cocaine.

    • Tent fight. Two homeless men were fighting over a tent, when one, a  40-year-old male, punched the other and the loser was kicked out of his domicile. Police locate the alleged punch-thrower sleeping in his newly acquired tent near Central Park. Off to jail he went on warrants.
    • Oww. Tot OK after falling out window.
Officers assisted emergency personnel after a 4-year-old boy fell from a second-floor home window on the 33000 block of Juliet Circle. Three teen-age girls, 14 to 16, and one 18-year-old male were arrested on burglary- and theft-related charges after reportedly stealing baby formula from Lucky in Brookvale. • Suspicious package causes evacuation at City Hall. The package was determined to be a duffle bag with clothes. More here.
    • Cars stolen and found, but we're still confused. At 11:30 p.m., a car owner exited Panda Express at Pacific Commons to find a "heavy-set" woman in her 20s in the driver’s seat of his Honda. She claimed to have a key, but then runs off. The female suspect was last seen near Claim Jumper. At 1 a.m., meanwhile, officers took a stolen-vehicle report of a black 1991 Honda (Lic #6VCU732) from Wendy’s on Automall across from Pacific Commons. The car theft occurred sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., and is likely related to the Panda case, police said. Complicating things further: Officers recovered a stolen Infinity from the same Wendy’s lot from where the Honda went missing. That vehicle was stolen July 19 from Napa.

    • Partying  teens takes mom's jewelry. A mother filed a grand theft report after realizing her jewelry was swiped during a teen party her son hosted at their Peregrine Way home on July 7. Some of the party attendees and suspects in the case were tracked down at 11 p.m. hanging out -- after hours -- at the Beard Staging Area Park that closes at 10 p.m. A search of the people, their car and a consensual search of the juvenile’s home turned up 80 percent to 90 percent of the loss. More investigation is needed as one suspect confessed to pawning some of the loot. In all, three females were arrested, one 17- and two 18-year- olds.
    • RVs hit for generators. Several overnight thefts and burglaries of generators from motorhomes parked in a Christy Street storage lot were reported.
