  • New K9 cop. Story here.
  • ATM armed robbery. An armed, street stick-up near Walgreens at Paseo Padre Parkway and Mowry Avenue was reported by two brothers walking to make a deposit at 2:30 a.m. at a Wells Fargo ATM. The two suspects were described as a 5'5" Hispanic male in a black hoodie and blue jeans, 17 to 20 years old and armed with a silver handgun, and a black man in a black hoodie and blue jeans, 5'7” and also between 17 and 20.

  • Knock-knock burglars. A homeowner on the 45000 block of Grimmer Boulveard opted not to answer a knock at her front door, but, within minutes, spotted a man looking through a backyard window. Two suspects in the attempted break-in were described as: a thin white male, late 20s, 6 feet tall; and a dark-skinned, short-haired black man, early 20s, 6'2", skinny in a black T-Shirt and jeans.

MONDAY, APRIL 22

  • Another Pizza Hut stick-up. A white man in his 20s, wearing a black hoodie, black pants, gray hat, a black scarf covering his face,  and armed with a black semi-automatic pistol robbed The Hub's Pizza Hut. After ordering all employees to the ground, he fled with an unknown amount of money. He was seen loitering at a Mowry Avenue bus stop prior to the crime. This is the second armed robbery at a Fremont Pizza Hut in less than a month. The other incident, on Easter Sunday, is detailed here.

  • Kudos to citizen reporting light-pole hijinks. A citizen report of a suspicious person hunkered down near a light pole on Cushing Road was a "light saver," as the signal lights were out of service. Police confirmed the lines were recently clipped and prepped for removal by copper thieves.

SATURDAY, APRIL 20

  • Missing autistic child found one mile away. An 8-year-old autistic boy was reported missing at 1:20 p.m. from Cabrillo Shopping Center. Numerous officers responded, and a traffic officer located the child approximately one mile away at the train station.
  • Gang tagging. A report of gang graffiti on a fence near Mateo Court and Bacinada Drive was reported, with photos forwarded to the Street Crimes Unit.

FRIDAY, APRIL 19

  • Cab brawl leads to fender-bender. Three women fighting in the back of a cab distracted the taxi driver to the point he rear-ended a car in the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot at Mowry Avenue and Farwell Drive. The three fled the scene, however, one was located by an officer at Blacow Road and Eggers Drive and arrested for being drunk in public. The other two were located in front of the Mowry Burger King, and also arrested for public intoxication. The trio was booked at Fremont Police Department Jail.
  • Subway robbed. A 5'10" black man, 19 to 20 years old with a thin build, robbed the Subway restaurant on Thornton Avenue. He had a red cloth covering his face, and insinuated he had a firearm. He was last seen running south on Dusterberry Way.
  • Call me maybe ... not. A woman summoned police regarding a man who was following and pestering her for her phone number on Central Avenue and Blacow Road. Officers arrived to speak to the gentleman, who happened to have an outstanding warrant for vehicle theft. He was arrested.
  • Ill pup. A Durillo Drive family's two-and-a-half-year-old, 100-plus pound German Shepherd began acting viciously and foaming at
the mouth, which prompted the owner to call police fearing for his family's safety. Arriving units determined the dog was, in fact, an extreme hazard. "Catch poles" did not work, so officers had to Taser the animal, which allowed him to be transported to an emergency vet. Despite sedation, the dog fought until secured in a kennel.

THURSDAY, APRIL 18

  • "Code Three" chaos. Three men created such an extreme disturbance near a donut shop on the 4300 block of Thornton Avenue that numerous police units were called to the scene for "code three" back-up. One of the men stole a beverage, and the trio was verbally abusive, aggressive, refused to identify themselves, and yelled and screamed at officers.
  • Carjacked. A motorist stopped at a red light on Fremont Boulevard and Ferry Lane had a black handgun pointed at him by a carjacker who wanted his 2002 silver Subaru WRX sedan. The suspect was described as a thin, 6-foot black man with dreadlocks and a beanie. The stolen car was found Friday morning in Hayward.
  • Gang tagging. Two male juvenile gang members were arrested for felony vandalism after citizens reported the pair “tagging” near Bartolo Trail and Coronado Drive. After the residents' calls, officers flooded the area and with neighborhood assistance, located the suspects, both of whom had evidence of “tagging” and
    vandalism on their persons.
  • Lingerie-stealin' flash mob? A gang of nine -- eight women and one man  -- zoomed into Victoria's Secret at 8:30 p.m. opened bags and purses and proceeded to empty multiple display racks within seconds and fled. NewPark Mall security was alerted. After being spotted by guards, some of the thieving crew ran back inside the store and returned goods they had just stolen. Yet, all individuals fled prior to police arrival. (Is this the same bra-stealin' mob that hit a Pleasanton Victoria's Secret two days later? Story posted here.)
