Pitbull Bites Girl's Arm at Centerville Park

The puppy is under quarantine, police said.

A girl was bit in the arm by a pitbull who attacked her at a park on Saturday, police said.

According to the Fremont Police Department, the 6-month-old pitbull puppy was let off leash at Centerville Park, got away from the owner and ran toward the 12-year-old girl.

Police said the dog made “several attempts to bite” the girl and that the victim tried to swing to keep the dog away. The dog, however, bit the girl in the arm as the owner arrived. The owner said sorry but fled, authorities said.

Witnesses helped officers locate the owner and the dog was seized from his home and is now under quarantine, police said. Animal Services will continue the investigation, Fremont police said.

The girl sustained a puncture wound in her forearm and several scratches.

What a creep, it's bad enough that the girl was bit. But the fact that he fled the scene and didn't let police question him and find out if this dog had all of it's shots .Is just so irresponsible. This little girl may have to undergo rabies treatment. I hope he at least has to pay a fine for his actions. What is wrong with people these days? No personal accountability anymore.I pray this child doesn't have to go through the painful rabies shots.

I'm the girl it bit, and no it was not rabid, fortunately. And I was actually on the swings when it approached me, I did not attempt to swing at it but my friend did and it ran off and attacked me instead. I guess they are running out of stuff to put on the news now days.
