Fremont Police said Friday morning that the 27-year-old man who fatally shot a 48-year-old relative at Pardee Court has been released in what appears to be a case of self-defense.
The incident occurred Thursday night at about 5:25 p.m. when officers responded to a report of a shooting at the 39500 block of Pardee Court.
They arrived to find a 48-year-old victim dead from a gunshot wound to the torso, police said.
The 27-year-old man who was the apparent shooter had left the house by the time police arrived, but he returned to police headquarters about two hours later with the gun wrapped up and turned himself in.
Detective Bill Veteran told Patch Friday morning:
"This appears as though it my have been a case of self defense. The suspect (shooter) was released last night after a lengthy interview with the investigators. The lead detectives will be consulting this afternoon with the District Attorney to discuss a disposition. The names of involved parties are not being released at this time."
This story will be updated as events become clearer.
