Update: Highway 84 Re-Open After Mudslide Causes Closure

Officials say the mudslide occurred in Niles Canyon on Highway 84 east of Palomares Road.

A mudslide shut down state Highway 84 just east of Fremont on Friday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The mudslide was reported at 6:22 a.m. on Highway 84 just east of 
Palomares Road, CHP Officer James Evans said. The highway has since re-opened, according to CHP officials.
