Three men were arrested in connection to a Fremont home burglary Thursday afternoon in which the trio pounded on a locked closet occupied by two minors who lived in the house, police said.
Police were called around 2:20 p.m. after a 16-year-old girl and her 10-year-old brother called 9-1-1 when they saw three men break into their home on Nuttman Lane near , according to the .
The siblings locked themselves in a closet, but when the three suspects heard the children, they “banged on the closet door and demanded they come out,” police said.
At that time, officers arrived and the suspects fled on foot in different directions but were eventually detained after short foot chases.
The men arrested were Demarkus Benavides, 25, of Alameda, and Oakland residents Kenneth Denson and Marvin Mathews, both 18.
Police said stolen property from a burglary in Newark was found inside of the suspects’ vehicle.
