A man was fatally shot in Fremont on Thursday evening and a family member turned himself in to police later in the day in connection with the shooting, police said today.
Officers responded at about 5:25 p.m. to a report of a shooting in the 39500 block of Pardee Court.
They arrived to find a 48-year-old victim dead from a gunshot wound to the torso, police said. The man's name was not yet being released this morning.
The suspect, a 27-year-old male family member, fled before officers arrived. However, at about 7:20 p.m., he arrived at police headquarters and said he wanted to turn himself in, according to police.
The suspect, whose name was also not immediately available, had a firearm wrapped up and gave it to police as he was arrested.
Police were not yet releasing a possible motive for the shooting or what the relationship was between the suspect and victim.
