Fremont Fire Department Welcomes New Recruits

This is the first time the Fremont Fire Department has hired new firefighters since 2007.

The Fremont Fire Department welcomes 11 new firefighters this week. 

The new recruits started their probationary assignments Monday after graduating from a rigorous 16-week academy on Friday.

This marks the first time that the agency has hired new firefighters since 2007, according to Fremont Fire Department spokesman Daniel Cardenas.

The new hires will fill vacancies for recent retirements.

Each of the firefighters are certified as paramedics or emergency medical technicians, and have varying levels of experience, Cardenas said.
