Yes I felt it. I was already awake. I felt a sharp, short jolt followed by a second, smaller jolt less than a minute later

I was asleep and woke up to a sharp jolt. Felt like something banged into my bed. Very unnerving! Hard to go back to sleep after that.

I was still up watching tv. I heard a rumbling sound, then came a short sharp jolt probably less than 3 seconds.

Didn't feel it, never feel quakes in this house. But heard it all around.
Denise Teague February 24, 2013 at 04:51 PM
I woke up to a loud crash as if a large tree branch landed on the roof. Sat up, looked around and went back to sleep. Hubby never heard it.

Same here, Suzy!

Yes felt it for sure, felt like it was right under us. I live in the niles crest area. Two very short shakes with a load noise. Like person above I too had thought a tree branch fell on my house. A 3.0 seems a little low compared to other quakes I have felt which were larger in magnitude. I would have guessed about a 4-5M

Nothing wakes me up but this did! I live on Walnut near the Deaf and Blind Schools. it rocked our place, walls creeking and it feeled like a rolling below. I also would have guesses more of a 4-5!

Its sounded like a big train passing by then I felt the jolt. I was just sitting here waiting for another one to come.
Char February 24, 2013 at 07:26 PM
Yep! Felt it! A short, quick jolt. The dogged barked and was pretty agitated for awhile.
Nancy Svenson February 24, 2013 at 07:47 PM
The dogs and I felt it...gentle movement of bed...we all went back to sleep.
Tim February 24, 2013 at 07:54 PM
The reason it "felt" bigger than a 3.0 is due to your proximity to the center and the fact that this was a VERY shallow depth at 4.1 miles.

Thank you Toby! Wow!

My son and I were getting dinner Sat night and I told him that it's been awhile since any small quakes in our area. I said we were due for at least a 3 pointer, and we both went out in the hallway just after it hit looked at each other in amazement because of the timing. We both were awake already, it was lightly rolling, and a sharp jolt with the neighbors dog barking just after.

There's only two things that can wake me up in the dead of night and that's Gunshots & Sirens, both of which provide me with a Boner which is probably why I wake up.

The noise woke me up but I had no idea it was an earthquake. I thought my cats had probably knocked stuff off the dresser or maybe a train in behind us. i'm surprised I heard it this far from the center, but it would have to be too big a coincidence to be anything else. total silence afterwards.

I was in bed, trying to go to sleep when I felt slight shaking. At first I thought it was my imagination but then there was this sudden, sharp jolt that shook my entire bed. It was unnerving.
Shell February 25, 2013 at 02:02 AM
The noise woke me up. We're just off Mission and Pickering. Like a quick, short train rumbling past. Two to three seconds at most. At the end the glasses in the kitchen cabinet rattled.

We're in Newark and we felt it too. The bed shook pretty good.

I thought the window was going to break... loud sharp and close....( born in Centerville)
Puja Bramania February 25, 2013 at 05:46 AM
We felt it too! Felt as if the entire house shook with a sudden jolt. It was pretty frightening as I have never experienced anything like this before. But after that, there was silence.
Puja Bramania February 25, 2013 at 05:50 AM
We felt it too! It was a sudden, strong jolt & pretty frightening. Felt like the entire house shook for a second.
Venu Ikkurti February 25, 2013 at 08:52 AM
Yes we live by fremont bart, felt a strong jolt. Sat up on bed wondering what it was, it's definitely scary... I thought we wont feel anything less than 4 but this one was very strong though it is just 3.

"The 2003 Working Group for California Earthquake Probability assigned a 27% probability that the Hayward-Rodgers Creek Fault system would produce a magnitude 6.7 or larger earthquake in the next 30 years" Then why did we demolish Fremont City Hall?????????
The Bride February 25, 2013 at 07:02 PM
The birth pangs Jesus spoke of are happening......expect more earthquakes right here in the good 'ol United States of Apostasy.....the more this nation thumbs its nose at God, the these disasters will happen. Increased violence, increased corruption (whoops, we're already there!), increased immorality ( we're very very close to this one folks)........the US is looking very familiar to Sodom & Gomorrah........we know what happened to them. Praying that no one was hurt in the quake but rather 'woken up' that God's hedge of protection is rapidly being removed from this once godly nation. Put down 50 Shades of filth, turn off your TV or Iwhatever & start studying the Word of God so you know what's coming.

He had a uterus? --> "..The birth pangs Jesus spoke of .."
James Nelson February 26, 2013 at 02:22 AM
LOL @ Uterus
Patrick February 26, 2013 at 04:13 PM
Cause it would happen WITHIN 30 years.not IN 30 years. Capice??
Michael N. April 30, 2013 at 07:26 PM
Whole-heartedly agree.." The Bride ", besides why wait to get right with God through His only begotten Son.. you're missing the blessings now. Repent of the old and begin the new. =-)
