Crime Log: Two Armed Robberies at BART Station; Forklift Used to Burglarize Business

A summary of crimes, fires and incidents reported in Fremont.

The following is a summary of significant crime and incidents reported in Fremont between Dec. 6 and Dec. 12 as released by the Fremont Police Department.

THURSDAY, DEC. 6

Woman Robbed at Gunpoint at BART Station

A woman was robbed of her iPhone at gunpoint as she was walking home from the Fremont BART station. Authorities responded and searched the station and a BART train but no suspect was found.

Drunken Driver Causes Collision

A man was arrested in Newark on suspicion of a hit-and-run and DUI after a motorist was struck by the motorist while driving on Nicolet Avenue.

FRIDAY, DEC. 7

Shoplifter Caught at Fry’s Electronics

A man was arrested on suspicion of theft out of Fry’s Electronics and was booked into jail on suspicion of theft with priors.

Driver Rams Vehicle in Road Rage Fit

Police were called after a driver of a white truck rammed another vehicle at Deep Creek around 11:15 a.m. in a fit of road rage. Authorities searched for the suspect but he was not found.

Burglar Caught with Foreign Money

Police made contact with a 27-year-old Fremont man during a traffic stop just before noon and learned that the man was on probation and was in possession of foreign coins and bills. Police determined that the currency was the same that had been reported taken from a home burglary on Lynx Drive. The man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and booked into jail.

Shooting Erupts at Teen Party

Fremont police are investigating a shooting at a residence where teens had trespassed and thrown a party Friday night. Officers were dispatched to a residence on Lake Erie Street, near Lowry Park by the Fremont-Union City border, at about 11:17 p.m. on a report of a party. Police heard approximately five gunshots while responding to the scene and saw numerous teenagers running from the residence. Read the full report here.

Business Burglarized Via Forklift

Police responded to Martinek Manufacturing around 11:20 p.m. to a report of a burglary in which a suspect used a forklift to open up the business’ rollup doors.

SATURDAY, DEC. 8

Wanted Man Arrested at Fremont Hub

A man wanted by police in connection to a case of an assault with a deadly weapon on Dec. 4 was found at the Fremont Hub and arrested.

Man Hospitalized After Being Kicked in the Head

Police were called to the Huddle on the 5100 block of Mowry Avenue around 7:40 p.m. after it was reported that a man had been kicked in the head multiple times by two suspects. The victim was treated at a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

SUNDAY, DEC. 9

Two Men Rob Gas Station

Police are looking for two men who robbed the Chevron gas station on Thornton Avenue. Police said one suspect demanded that the gas station clerk give him money and that when the clerk did not comply, he was assaulted. The pair was last seen fleeing westbound on Thornton Avenue. The suspects were both described as black men between the ages of 20 and 25 years old of thin build. One was last seen wearing a green T-shirt and blue jeans and the other was last seen wearing a black beanie, black T-shirt and black sweat pants.

MONDAY, DEC. 10

Missing Minor Found Driving Stolen Vehicle

A juvenile from Fremont who was reported missing was located with another juvenile in an unreported stolen vehicle early Tuesday morning in San Ramon, according to police. Police in San Ramon performed a traffic stop on the two juveniles, who were driving in a blue 1991 Toyota Camry at about 3 a.m. and learned that it was a reported stolen vehicle.   • Home burglary on the 4100 block of Broadmoor Common.
  • Home burglary on the 34000 block of Bluestone Common.
  • Home burglary on the 36000 block of San Pedro Drive. Possible suspect vehicle was described as a “beat up red 1990s Cadillac.”
  • Home burglary on the  45000 block of Bryant Street.

TUESDAY, DEC. 11

Armed Robber Steals Cash from Gas Station

A suspect, only described as a black man in his early 20s wearing a mask, entered a 76 Gas Station on the 34800 block of Ardenwood Boulevard, pointed a shotgun at the clerk and demanded cash. The suspect fled with $123 and was last seen leaving in a green sedan westbound on Highway 84.

Man Attempts to Rob Woman in Parked Vehicle

Police are looking for a man who approached a woman who had stopped her vehicle on the side of the road at Stevenson Boulevard near Sundale Drive and demanded she give him cash. Instead, the woman pepper sprayed the suspect, drove off and called police. The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s of medium height and slim build that is “disheveled looking” and was last seen wearing a black hoodie with a red shirt.

Man Robbed at Fremont BART Station

A man was robbed of his cell phone by two men, and one was believed to have a handgun. Police were called and one suspect was found and arrested near Archstone apartments by Civic Center Drive and Walnut Avenue. The second suspect was not found.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 12

Manhunt Leads to One Arrest

During a traffic stop around 6:30 p.m., the driver of a vehicle sped off on Farwell Drive as an officer was approaching the vehicle. The vehicle was later found empty several blocks away but witnesses gave police a description of a man who ran from the vehicle. Police later found the man near Blacow Road but instead of stopping for the officer, the man threw a black bag full of cocaine and marijuana and fled into the backyard of a home on Richmond Avenue. After a perimeter was set, the 21-year-old man was found on the roof of a home and he was arrested on suspicion of charges related to drug violations and resisting arrest.
