Crime Log: Car Burglar Caught After Owner Spots Him in Vehicle; CVS Targeted Twice by Alcohol Thieves

A summary of crimes, fires and incidents reported in Fremont.

The following is a summary of significant crime and incidents reported in Fremont between Nov. 14 and Nov. 20 as released by the Fremont Police Department.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 14

Fragrances Stolen From Store

Police are searching for three women who are wanted for grand theft. Authorities said the women stole about three bags full of fragrances from ULTA at the Fremont Hub. Police said the women were seen fleeing the area in an SUV.

Man Steals Chainsaw

A chainsaw was stolen from Dale Hardware Store. Police described the suspect as a 6-foot-tall white man about 45 years old and was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt and jeans.

Big Rig Strikes Traffic Light

Police were called after the driver of a big rig truck hit a traffic light, resulting in fixtures to dangle by its wires. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.

Burglaries and Theft

  • A home on the 3500 block of Alder Avenue was found burglarized in which the suspect(s) forced the front doors open.
  • The Valero Gas Station on the 4900 block of Mowry Avennue was found burglarized around 4:45 a.m. in which the suspect(s) entered by smashing a window. Cigarette boxes were stolen.

THURSDAY, NOV. 15

Man Steals Alcohol From CVS

A 35-year-old man was detained after security at CVS at the Fremont Hub caught him trying to steal alcohol. The suspect told security that he was having a medical issue, police cited the man and transported him to the hospital.

A cement truck driver was arrested Thursday after a frightening fit of road rage, police said.  The suspect, a 32-year-old employee of Tri-City Rock, was heading eastbound on Automall Parkway when he engaged in a dispute with the driver of a black Audi. The suspect rammed the Audi, pushing it forward five feet, according to Fremont police. Police said both drivers got out of the vehicle but that the victim ran back to the Audi when the suspect waved a hammer. The suspect then proceeded to follow the victim and punched him three times in the face. Read the full report here.

Burglaries and Theft

  • Police responded to the 39900 block of Fremont Blvd. and an elderly woman reported that a necklace was snatched from her neck on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

FRIDAY, NOV. 16

iPhone Taken During Armed Robbery

Police are searching for a man who robbed a person at gunpoint and took the victim’s iPhone. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man around 26 years old and was last seen wearing a black hoodie.

Burglaries and Thefts

  • A home was found burglarized on the 4800 block of Seneca Park
  • A home was found burglarized on the 4400 block of Winding Lane in which the suspect(s) entered through a bathroom window.
  • A home on the 32400 block of Lake Mask Place was found burglarized. Police believe the suspects were last seen fleeing in a small gold Dodge vehicle.
  • A home on the 4500 block of Carol Avenue was found burglarized in which the suspect(s) kicked the front door open.
  • Auto Sound and Care on Osgood Court was found burglarized. Suspect(s) smashed a window to gain entry.
  • A home on the 5100 block of Curtis Street was found burglarized. Authorities said the suspect(s) entered by cutting the screen of an open kitchen window and took jewelery and electronics.
  • Police are looking for a man who tried to open the lock of Central Chevy with a hammer. The suspect was last seen fleeing in a white Chevy Suburban with tinted windows.

SATURDAY, NOV. 17

Car Burglar Caught After Owner Spots Him in Vehicle

Police were called after a man reported seeing a suspect sitting inside of his vehicle that was parked on Lexington Street. The victim yelled at the man and the suspect began running. Numerous police officers were called to the are and was eventually detained  and arrested near the Big 5 parking lot off of Mowry Avenue.

Suspected Car Thief Arrested

Police were called to the 44200 block of Christy Street after a person saw two men attempting to hotwire vehicles. An officer approached the men and learned that one had an outstanding warrant for vehicle theft out of Modesto. The man was arrested.

Suspected Thief Attempts to Steal Alcohol

Police are searching for a man who fought with security of the CVS store at Fremont Hub after security officers tried to stop him when he took alcohol from the store. The man escaped but the items he took

Burglaries and Thefts

  • A burglary at McIvir’s Hardware store was discovered. Suspect(s) entered through a broken front window.

SUNDAY, NOV. 18

Suspected Thief Caught Stealing at Costco

A man with an outstanding theft warrant was arrested after security at Costco detained the 46-year-old man who police said left before paying for items.

Man Arrested After Threatening KWIK Mart Customers

A man was arrested after police were called to the KWIK and Convenient Mart on Walnut Avenue to a report of a man trespassing in the business. The person who called police said the man had attacked him the day before and had returned to the store and was threatening customers. The man was arrested on ssupciion of battery, public drunkenness and trespassing.

Burglaries and Thefts

  • A business on the 4800 block of Warm Springs Boulevard was found burglarized.
  • A man was arrested on suspicion of theft out of Dale Hardware.
  • A suspect was arrested on suspicion of theft and for outstanding warrants after stealing from Lucky’s at Charter Square.

MONDAY, NOV. 19

Drunken Driver Attempts to Drive Over Median

A 59-year-old woman was arrested after police it was reported that the woman had tried to drive over a raised center median in the area of Sundale and Boone drives. The woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Burglaries and Thefts

  • A 46-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and theft with a prior conviction out of Lucky’s on Mowry.
  • A home burglary was reported at the Camden Village Apartments

TUESDAY, NOV. 20

Trio Arrested After Attempted Home Burglary

 

A 17-year-old and two men, ages 20 and 24, were arrested after police were called to the 3700 block of Eugene Street when a person called to report that the three men were hiding near a house in the area. The teen was found to be in violation of his probation and arrested on suspicion of violating his probation and attempted burglary. The two men were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary.
