Union City Police Car Involved in Fremont Crash

A busy intersection is expected to remain closed until 2 p.m.

Update:
An on-duty Union City police officer was one of two people injured in a collision in Fremont Monday morning, police said.

The collision was reported at 8:26 a.m. at the intersection of Paseo Padre Parkway and Fremont Boulevard, Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said.

The officer was responding to another call in a marked police vehicle when he became involved in the three-vehicle collision.

Bosques said that the officer and the female driver of a four-door sedan were transported to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The third vehicle, a minivan, was occupied by a male driver and a child and neither was seriously injured, Bosques said.

Eastbound Paseo Padre Parkway will remain closed until about 2 p.m.

While the rest of the intersection is open, detours are in place around the area, Bosques said.

She added that motorists should expect major delays in the area for the next few hours. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
