3 San Jose Residents Arrested for Attempted Homicide in Fremont

Three San Jose residents were arrested Wednesday in connection with a stabbing and assault in Fremont, police said today.
 
Paul Fagundes, 40, Juvenal Corvelo, 38, and Nicole Garcia, 20, were arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy in connection with an attack that occurred on July 13, according to police.
 
Police said the 34-year-old female victim responded to a knock on her door around 9:45 p.m. and was stabbed in the stomach by Garcia, who dropped a red and black folding knife on the scene and fled with Corvelo, the getaway driver, police said. The victim's children were home with her at the time of the attack, police said. Corvelo and Garcia admitted to being hired by Fagundes, who had a previous relationship with the victim, to beat her up, according to police.
 
Security cameras near the victim's residence spotted Corvelo's getaway car. Further investigation found that Corvelo was a closed friend and associate of Fagundes and connected to Garcia. The knife that Garcia dropped was identified as one that she was carrying during a previous contact with San Jose police in June, police said.

Once the victim identified Garcia in a lineup, warrants were authored for the arrest of Corvelo and Garcia. Fagundes was also interviewed and arrested the same evening.
