HBCF’s Cycling Heroes Meet Their Honorary Mothers

Everyone at HERS Breast Cancer Foundation continues to cheer and support the courageous men cycling from Alaska to South America on our behalf. We were delighted to meet them on Wednesday night.

All of us "honorary moms" came together on Wednesday, September 26th, at the HERS Breast Cancer Foundation (HBCF) office in Fremont, to watch the Alaska to South America young men ride in. Everyone at the foundation has long awaited their arrival since they left Anchorage, Alaska on August 23rd. We had an inspirational ‘Meet & Greet’ for the guys so the HBCF board members, staff, and volunteers could finally thank them for the incredible journey they have embarked upon on our behalf.

Neil Walsky, a recent Civil Engineer graduate and ex-pro Switzerland hockey player, and best friend Jesse Frechione are in the middle of the journey of a lifetime. They have cycled through Alaska, Canada, Washington and Oregon to get to the Bay Area. Their journey still has months to go, as they will conclude in Columbia in December. This entire journey is being done in honor of HBCF. Since their departure from Alaska, their friend Mike Price has joined the endeavor. He met up with Neil and Jesse in Portland, Oregon and plans to continue on with them for several weeks.

We had a pleasant surprise for Neil Walsky, Jesse Frechione, and newly joined Mike Price when they arrived at our office. We made bike jerseys for them to wear as they continue on, which have the HBCF logo on the front and the Alaska to South America logo on the back. It was wonderful to see their faces of joy when we gifted them each with the authentic cycling jersey.
