A female pedestrian suffered major injuries when she was struck by a car in Fremont late Sunday night, police said.
At about 11:20 p.m. Sunday a burgundy 2000 Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on Central Avenue just past Dusterberry Way when it hit the pedestrian, a 35-year-old Fremont woman, who appeared to be crossing Central Avenue in the southbound direction, police said.
When officers arrived at the scene they found the female pedestrian on the ground, breathing but unconscious, police said.
After finding no pulse, officers performed CPR on the woman until firefighters and paramedics arrived. The woman was then taken by ambulance to an area trauma center.
The driver of the Toyota, a 48-year-old Union City woman, wasn't injured in the collision and alcohol or drug use did not seem to be a factor, police said.
The collision scene on Central Avenue was closed to traffic during the investigation and wasn't reopened until about 3:50 a.m. on Monday, according to police.
Fremont police are asking that anyone who saw the collision call Officer Tran of their traffic unit at (510) 790-6760 or (510) 790-6800 ext. 12745.
