Fremont School Teacher Brings Art Workshops to NewPark

A new art exhibit moves into the NewPark Cultural Corner on Sept. 8.

WHAT: Continuing to enrich the community with art and culture, NewPark Mall's Cultural Corner will exhibit artwork painted and drawn by middle and high school students from Alsion Montessori School.

Art teacher Maria Grazia Romero from Alsion Montessori (located in Fremont, California) will also offer free art workshop classes focusing on acrylics and watercolors.  

The public is invited to attend the exhibit's kick-off party to be held inside the Cultural Corner. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.

The Cultural Corner, which opened in May 2011, provides exhibit space for the work of local artisans, including painters, sculptors, photographers and digital artists.

  • FREE Art Workshop Classes
    • September 15 (Watercolor class), 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. 
    • September 22 (Acrylic class), 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.

WHO: A native Italian, Maria Grazia Romeo's involvement in the arts started early. By the time she was in high school, she already received national recognition for her artwork. Maria completed her formal education with a doctoral degree in Economics at the University of Rome, Italy. After coming to North America, she furthered her education with graduate courses in Canada (McMaster University -Hamilton, Ontario) and the United States (SUNY at Albany, NY, and SUNY at Stony Brook, NY) in life drawing, print making, photography, mass media psychology, computer graphics, history of art and history of art criticism. Her work has been used in educationall films, magazines, poetry books, advertising material, interior design, stage design and for educational and entertainment organizations. Some of Maria's artwork is now in Italy, France, Germany, Canada, Mexico, Japan, New Zealand and on both coasts of the United States.
