Former Solyndra employees are invited to an employer panel hosted by Ohlone Community College and the Tri-Cities One Stop Center.
The panel will focus on the “21st Century World of Work” and the event will be held on Friday, Jan. 25 from noon to 2 p.m. at Ohlone College’s Newark campus.
The event will include an employer panel, a guest speaker, lunch and networking opportunities, according to an announcement from Ohlone College.
All former Solyndra employees and contractors of Solyndra who were impacted by the business’ 2011 closure are invited to the free event. Registration is recommended and individuals who would like to register are asked to do so at www.tricitiesonestop.com/solyndra.htm.

Solyndra shut down its Fremont facility and filed for bankruptcy in August 2011, leaving approximately 1,100 full-time and temporary employees who worked for the solar products manufacturing company without a job.
Founded in 2005, Solyndra’s Fremont facility encompasses approximately 800,000 square feet. The company has offices in the United States, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and France, according to its website.
In May 2010, President Obama visited the plant and touted it as "a testament to American ingenuity and dynamism," according to media reports.
The company received stimulus dollars as part of a $535 million federal loan guarantee in 2009 in addition to venture capital support, according to the Wall Street Journal.
