Low-cost micro-chipping for dogs will be offered at the July 19 Niles Dog Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. by Golden Gate Basset Rescue.

Dr. Mark Madden D.V.M. and Nanci Rider R.V.T. will be on hand to microchip the public's pets using 24PetWatch.com chips which can be universally read and which include lifetime registration.  Cost of the micro-chipping is $25 per pet with proceeds going to the dog rescue organization.

The Northern California rescue group will also have basset hounds on site for the public to meet and greet and will offer games, give-aways, a chance to win t-shirts and other prizes and cold drinks at its booth.

Niles Dog Show attracts dog lovers and their canine companions from all over the Bay Area and kicks off this year at 9 a.m. with a pancake breakfast. It will also feature a doggie water park, a police K-9 demonstration, rescue adoptions, food vendors, a dog costume contest and more fun activities for the whole family.

The show takes place in the Niles Community Park at 3rd and H Street in the historic Niles District of Fremont.
