Fremont Bank Hosts Blood Drives at Fremont, Hayward and Livermore Facilities

Donations will help maintain the blood supply for local hospitals

FREMONT, Calif., May 21, 2013—Fremont Bank, a leading full-service community bank in California, is partnering with the American Red Cross next month to host blood drives at three of its facilities. Blood donated through the events will help supply 27 hospitals across the Bay Area, including Washington Hospital and Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Fremont.

The blood drives will take place June 10, 11 and 12, in Fremont, Hayward and Livermore, respectively, and mark the beginning of a new partnership between Fremont Bank and the Northern California Region of the American Red Cross. The bank plans to host similar events annually where associates, clients and local residents can donate blood for those in need.

“We are thrilled that Fremont Bank is partnering with us to help maintain a healthy blood supply for local hospitals,” said Jared Schultzman, regional communications manager with the American Red Cross. “The fact that Fremont Bank will host three blood drives its very first year as a sponsor is significant and shows the bank’s commitment to making a difference.”

According to the American Red Cross, more than 44,000 blood donations are needed every day to care for people in the United States. A single car accident victim, for example, may require as many as 100 pints of blood. In less extreme cases, a one-pint donation of blood can save multiple lives. Donated blood has a limited shelf life, which means the supply must constantly be replenished in order to meet the needs of local hospitals.

“These blood drives embody the values of Fremont Bank, which strives to bring our associates, clients and local residents together and make a difference in our communities,” said Fremont Bank Director of Nonprofit Business Development Brian Hughes. “Our goal is for 150 people to donate blood, potentially benefiting hundreds of individuals.”

The 2013 Fremont Bank blood drives will be held:
• June 10, 2013, Fremont Main Branch: 39150 Fremont Blvd., Fremont
• June 11, 2013, Hayward Operations Center: 25151 Clawiter Rd., Hayward
• June 12, 2013, Livermore Branch: 1879 Holmes Street, Livermore
