Chinese Christian Schools Students Win Again at the State Tournament

It was a very long day for the students at Chinese Christian Schools, San Leandro, as they competed at the Odyssey of the Mind State Tournament on Saturday, April 5 in Brentwood. Yet, no one complained because all three teams brought back a trophy: one team placed third and the other two teams placed second in their respective divisions.

OM is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and world level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.

So what’s next? The two second place winning teams will represent the State of California to compete in the World Finals 2014 competition. The 35th OM World Finals will take place in Iowa State University this year from May 28 to May 31. Fund raising will begin in earnest. Please contact CCS at (510)351-4957 if you would like to make a donation to offset the students’ travel cost. Go RAMS!
